Winter Ice fishing in Whistler BC Canada

Whistler, BC and surrounding areas offers some great Ice fishing. There are many lakes that freeze over and there are multiple species to catch. Every lake is set in a Winter wonderland and the fish grow BIG. It’s not uncommon to see Trout in excess of 6 LBS and our largest last Ice fishing season tipped the scale at just over 11 LBS. Now that’s a huge Trout!

Our Ice fishing season typically begins December 15th and runs till March 31st. This year we got a bit of an early start and the fishing has been fantastic. Although all of the lakes we Ice fish are not completely frozen, a few of the great ones are. Some of the larger lakes that we Ice fish should be ready for Ice fishing by mid January.

At this point we have roughly 20 lakes to choose from and nearly 10 species of fish. There’s not many places left in the World that offer Safe Ice for Ice fishing, with a World class Winter resort on their doorstep. Whistler, BC is just that! Spend a couple days Skiing or Snowboarding, followed by a day or 2 of Ice Fishing, followed by a day at the spa.

Meanwhile you have an incredible selection of World Class Accommodations and restaurants to choose from. While the list of fun Winter activities in Whistler could probably fill this page, I can assure that you will not run out of things to do. This makes Whistler a great place to visit for Ice Fishing.

Ice Fishing has a very short learning curve, so this makes it very attractive to Families with Children. Typically, we catch numerous fish each and every Ice Fishing trip.

On our Full Day Ice fishing trips we have an added option of bringing a BBQ along to cook a fresh catch. All of the fish in this video were caught and released December 17th, 2018.
