Bait Fishing #31 – Spillway Fishing for Winter Walleye and White Sucker

I was fishing from shore for walleye, northern pike, panfish, and more at a spillway in New York during winter (early January, 2014).

I was fishing with nightcrawlers and minnows on 3-way slip sinker bait rigs each with a fluorocarbon leader going to an aberdeen hook and a breakaway mono leader going to a weight.

The big white sucker I got in the beginning was 78% as heavy as the New York state record – the closest I’ve gotten this winter.I also caught some walleyes before leaving.

This is one of many videos in the Bait Fishing series – watch others for numbers of fish, trophy fish, the tips and techniques I pick up along the way, and more!
