Tons of fish expected from Chagan Lake’s winter fishing festival

The 17th Chagan Lake Ice Fishing Culture Tourism Festival will kick off in northeast China’s Jilin Province on Friday.

As one of the 10 largest freshwater lakes in the country, Chagan Lake produces thousands of tons of carps each year. Roughly 1,500 tons are expected from this year’s annual winter fishing event.
