Oregon Coast: Fall CHINOOK Fly Fishing- Catch, Clean, and COOK!

Oregon Coast Chinook!

This video was filmed on the Oregon Coast on Thanksgiving Weekend 2019. We started out with spinning rods and Conventional Gear, but soon learned that the Salmon were biting almost ONLY on flies. Only hooked one on the baitcaster.

Stripping Clouser minnows through the pools was the most effective way to catch these fish. I used my Maxcatch Premier Fly Rod to land most of these fish. The darkest fish was cooked with a smoker and was fantastic tasting. 2 of the three fish we caught were Hatchery Salmon.

The rivers we fished during this trip were the: Umpqua River, Chetco River, the Rogue River, Sixes River, the Elk River, the Clackamas River, The Coquille river, the Coos River system, and a few more.

We ended up Catching more than 20 fish, some Coho Salmon and Sea Run Cutthroat, as well as mostly King Salmon. I ended up making Grilled Salmon on the Barbecue. I also made sashimi with the fish, which was great. But do not try it yourself.
