Five Flies for March 2019 – Fly Fishing the Dream Stream

We’ve made it to March!

We’re kicking off March in Colorado with a pretty significant snow storm in the mountains, which is certainly a good thing for fishing for the remainder of the year.

March typically provides a real variety and mix of winter and spring fishing, as we start to loosen the grip of winter and insects and fish start respond in kind.

With air temperatures in the single digits to start the day and most of our freestones locked up with ice or slush, Trouts Denver Regional Manager Tanner Smith fished the Dream Stream.

While this month’s Five Flies certainly produced some solid memories on the Dream, don’t limit the use of these flies to the South Platte. They’ll fish on tailwaters and freestones alike.
